3 Steps to Start Transforming Your Interior Spaces in 2025

Want to transform your spaces in 2025? Here are some ideas to consider:

1. Establish A Brief

Yes, I know it’s not as exciting as jumping on Pinterest, but you need to know which direction you want to direct your search terms.

  • When styling I always create a brief, getting clear on the end goal. Is the space to be featured in a magazine? For social media content? Or simply to enjoy my own home?

  • When working with design clients, I always start with a questionnaire to learn more about their needs so I can filter image searches in a meaningful way.

2. Connect With The Heart

When filtering through images to create a design concept, I always want to feel a deep emotional connection. Sure, some images are purely for a reference point on how to get the perfect drape on a tablecloth or how to brief a trade contractor. But when searching for an image that is my “North Star”, I want to feel excited and inspired.

Ask yourself:

  • Do I love it?

  • Why do I love it?

  • Will I still love it in 5 years’ time? (Or what’s most relevant for your project)

3. Stay Connected

It’s easy to get distracted, delay decision-making or chop and change directions when creating any space. This is why it’s so important to have a visual “North Star”.

Try this:

  • If you’re styling spaces, create a storyboard of what you want each space or shot to look like.

  • If you’re designing, create a design concept that helps you stay on track.

Interiors Inspiration

Here are some places I’ve been finding interiors inspiration lately:

@pottershousemallorca

  • Andrew Trotter’s Potter’s House Mallorca (above). This inspired Emma Goodwin with her home, and his projects have been a long-time favourite of mine too.

  • Another project I came across recently in Mallorca that I love is this summer house Estancia San Jose by Atelier Dupont.

  • Visit a new restaurant or hotel lobby - I love hotel lobbies. Hotel Gjelina was a great place to stay in Venice Beach recently. You can see some photos of the lobby area here

  • Loved the interiors of this LA eatery too. The food was delicious, and I was busy taking photos for an interior project I’m currently working on.

  • Books are always one of my favourite places to get ideas and inspiration. Here are some of my favourite interior books. You can also do a book swap with a friend or borrow from the library.
