At Home with Abigail Ahern
Abigail Ahern has been called ‘one of the world’s most exciting designers’ by W magazine. Gwyneth Paltrow said, ‘She changes the feel of a room with her knack for artful arrangements.’ There’s a lot to love about Abigail.
Not only does she create interiors with her inimitable style, embracing moody hues and textural layers, but she does it all with wit and good humour.
Over a career that spans 20 years in the interiors industry, she has a portfolio that encompasses high-end residential properties to the Ritz Carlton Palm Beach hotel.
Come step inside Abigail’s East London four-storey 19th-century home, where she has created a cocoon-like feeling. She champions embracing inky hues and layering subtle texture to create emotive interiors.
Interiors have the power to change how you feel, she says on the Imprint podcast.
‘It’s not about fluffing cushions or lighting a candle,’ she says. ‘It’s almost more spiritual than that because it changes how you feel. If I’m in a lovely space, it makes me feel happier. It makes me feel more positive.’
Since covid Abigail has moved towards softer earthier tones with the paints she’s used in her home. ‘I was at home a lot more, and I just felt when I was in a more cocooning mid-tone it just made me feel so much more grounded and restored,’ she says.
