Styling Tips to Refresh Your Living Room

Sometimes it feels good to create some new energy in your home — one of the simplest ways to do this is with styling. You can do this by freshening things up and moving pieces around within your spaces.

A big part of this is responding to the season. In winter, this could mean introducing a basket of firewood and kindling by the fireplace or in spring it might mean bringing in some fresh flowers from the garden.

You can also do this by moving furniture and creating a new furniture layout. For this season, I’ve done this by moving our sofa to face the fireplace, in warmer months I will usually have this facing our verandah doors for the breeze.

Another thing to think about is how your eye is led into the space and having a focal point at the end of this line of sight. For my line of sight, I’ve introduced some olive trees at different heights that were previously on my deck.

The most important thing is to consider how the space makes you feel. For us, our home is very loud and busy with our 4 children so I really like to create a calm, simple space and don’t like to go overboard by adding too many elements. In your home, you might enjoy this feeling of busy-ness. Do what works for you and your life.

I hope you find this helpful.
