Your 7 Favourite Interiors of 2022

Stepping inside people’s homes, capturing how they live, and sharing their home story is one of my favourite things.

I often share these homes on Instagram (@nataliewalton), and I always find it interesting to see which interiors resonate with you. Looking back at 2022, here are the 7 interiors you loved most.

1. Claudia Martin’s ‘Simple Barn Bangalow’

This dining table shot is from ‘The Simple Barn Bangalow’ as featured in my new book, Home by the Sea. Food stylist Claudia Martin built this house with her husband high up in the hinterland, just beyond the small town of Bangalow. They chose to keep it simple, bright, and airy, with a fuss-free, open living space.

2. Abbey Batchelor’s Bangalow home

This light and bright Bangalow home belongs to Abbey Batchelor (@_abbeysarah_ & @sansomhome), and is one that I styled earlier this year for the Imprint House Journal.

Abbey created this beautiful barn-style extension, which is full of natural light. The moment I walked in, I knew I wouldn’t want to leave!

3. Sally McGarry’s 1920s heritage cottage

Though Sally McGarry and her husband Matt have plans to renovate, they have made this relaxed 1920s heritage cottage in Byron Bay the best it can be by bringing in pieces that are meaningful, well-made, and considered.

4. Priscylla Elliot’s 1950s fibro-shack

I’ve had the pleasure of seeing this home evolve over the past few years as Priscylla has added her magic touch to this space. Originally a modest 1950s beach bungalow, Priscylla lifted the house and made it more functional for family living.

5. Kelly Warren’s light-filled Suffolk Park home

Kelly is one of the most radiant people I know, and her positive energy is very much reflected in her home. After waiting a long time to find their forever home, Kelly and her husband Glenn and four children found this light-filled, treehouse style home, which they soon transformed with white paint and minor renovations to align with their personal style.

6. Aimee Winchester’s Bangalow build

Like Kelly, Aimee and her husband Dave had also been waiting patiently for the opportunity to find and create their dream family home. The result is a beautiful new build that feels like them and works beautifully for their 5 children. I love that Aimee and Dave chose to use hemp in the build, and that the whole family participated in the creation of their new home.

7. Laura Muthesius and Nora Eiserman’s Scandinavian style home

In one episode of the Imprint podcast, I had the opportunity to interview photographer Laura Muthesius and stylist Nora Eiserman – the duo behind Design Tales – to hear how they have turned their passions for styling and photography into a thriving career.
